HOUSEHOLD ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING IN
OSUN AND DELTA STATES

In response to the challenging circumstances faced by households with people living with HIV (PLHIV), the Osun State ECEWS SPEED project partnered with an OVC-supported Community-Based Organisation (CBO) to empower thirty-three. (33) caregivers from Osogbo, Ede, Ife, Iwo, and Ilesha LGAs in Osun State and Oshimili South LGA, including other parts of Delta States. Through a tailored approach, we aimed to address the specific needs of the caregivers and their households. Some caregivers received materials and support to establish their businesses, providing them with a sustainable source of income to meet their immediate needs.

Others participated in skill acquisition workshops that equipped them with new skills and opportunities for employment. Additionally, the program connected caregivers with other agencies and organisations where they could receive additional support for their families. Overall, this program was a remarkable success, demonstrating the transformative power of targeted empowerment initiatives in helping People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and their families build more stable and resilient lives. One of the key strategies to achieve the first, second, and third 95 of UNAIDs target is improving the economic well-being of our beneficiaries and we are focused on attaining this milestone.
